Erica Carretero
M.A., APC, Bilingual Counselor
I am an Associate Professional Counselor currently receiving supervision to obtain my full license in Georgia. I am originally from São Paulo, Brazil. I speak English, Portuguese, and Spanish. The experience of living in the U.S has provided a great opportunity to learn about other aspects of life and expand your knowledge of the world’s social and cultural diversity and how adapting to a new culture can generate major stress and develop mental health problems. I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Counseling in Mental Health at Adams State University. I have previous experience in clinical psychology from my work in Brazil. I also became a group facilitator with certification in psychodrama techniques. I also obtained a certification in hospital psychology, where I worked with patients with HIV, applying individual and family psychotherapy in supportive and bereavement therapy. I have also been certified in prenatal childbirth education for families and pregnant women. In the U.S., I am certified in Transpersonal Psychology and Relaxation Techniques, where I specialized for two years in deep relaxation techniques, which facilitates the process of releasing traumas and deep conflicts.
I have also earned my Life Coaching certification, with experience in working in the recovery process for adolescents, children, individuals, and families, improving their communication skills, parenting skills and facilitating the family integration. I have experience in conducting groups of meditation and relaxation. I have also become certified in NLP practitioner, a neuro-linguistic programming and applies concepts of Positive Psychology where I apply in the counseling and life coaching sessions.
I have a great motivation to help and empower groups, families, couples, and teenagers in counseling to promote emotional balance. This arrangement of skills and techniques offers a unique, dynamic and transformative style of counseling. My clients say that one of my strengths is the ability to connect quickly and provide confidence in the therapeutic relationship.
